It is always a good idea to apply light machine oil or Vaseline to the needle shaft where it passes through the needle packing nut and work it in and out by pulling the trigger back and forth. It should however, allow the needle to glide smoothly through it. Remember that the needle packing must be tight enough to prevent any leakage of paint material. This occurs when the Needle Packing nut is too loose. The spray gun is leaking from the Needle Packing Nut This occurs when the Needle Packing Nut is too tight, compressing the Needle Packing too tightly around the Needle. This particular issue is a simple fix and stopping such a leak is as easy as following a few steps.
